It was early morning, I went to the office, walked to my desk, opened my laptop then I opened an email that confirmed the rumours that I heard over weeks, it was an official communication that mentioned the company has started the downsizing plan that would affects over 300 people from all level of the organization directors, managers, analyst, developers and administrative staff. The day was supposed to be a business day as usual, it was a disrupted day.
Few weeks later, many colleagues were leaving the company against their will.
Some of them were people who have a lot of experience with obsolete technology. They do the same thing year after year but now their skills do not fit the market need well.
These people would have problems finding jobs and might need assistance during their career transition, retraining, acquiring new skills and finding another kind of job.
Each of us can be in a similar situation.
